The Island of Dr. Moreau takes place in 1896 where we meet a young Prendick who is lost at sea with few others who have already gone overboard. Prendick is picked up by a strange ship called the "Ipecacuanha" that whisks him away to an island filled with beast men and bloody experimentations. The longer Prendick stays, the stranger the island becomes. After coming into contact with the beasts he learns of their "Laws" and the godliness of Dr. Moreau, and how these beasts still differ from men no matter how hard they try to be human. Moreau sees no harm in his work; he sees it as an advancement for human kind when in reality Moreau is doing this because he simply can. This eventually leads to his downfall when the beasts begin to revolt and killing him and others on the island. Prendick is safe from harm but watches as the beasts revert back to their primal states, and eventually escapes from the island with the inability to view his peers as anything other than the beasts
