SYNOPSIS

The audience is introduced to Mary as she performed surgery on an uncooked turkey. It's revealed that Mary is studying to be an upcoming surgeon, hence the practice on the raw turkey. After struggling with her finances and being hounded by student loans Mary seeks employment at a strip club for easy money. The interview is later interrupted by a henchman who claims that a man is dying downstairs. The club owner, Billy Barker, recalls that Mary is a surgeon from her resume and offers her $5,000 to perform surgery on a severely tortured man and save his life. Mary completes her task and leaves traumatized, and is soon hounded by a woman who obtains her contact information via the resume she left at the strip club. The woman, Beatrice , breaks into Mary's apartment and offers her $10,000 to perform cosmetic surgery on her good friend Ruby. Beatrice explains that she had many surgeries to resemble Betty Boop and that Ruby wished to resemble a human doll, as she was enthralled by their non-sexualization and purity. Mary accepts Beatrice's request, with the promise of $2,000 for simply showing up, and proceeds to remove her nipples and labia. During a shadowing at a hospital Mary displays her abilities to handle pressure after she is forced to deliver the news of a death to a waiting family. Impressed by this display she is invited to a party by the Doctor she's shadowing. During her time at the party Mary is drugged by her professor, Dr. Grant, and is raped. The next day Mary return to the strip club where she pays Billy $5,000 to kidnap Dr. Grant. Once obtained, she performs a series of grotesque body modification surgeries to Dr. Grant in retaliation for her rape, claiming that she's practicing for her new career. Having dropped out of med school, Mary (dubbed 'Bloody Mary') becomes renowned for her work as and ability to perform any surgery desires. Her fame reaches a pair of twins from Berlin, Germany, who explain (albeit in a sensually creepy manner) that they want to be connected with each other forever and request that she not only implant horns in their foreheads, but that she amputate and exchange their left arms with one another. The surgery is a success and in gratitude for her work the twins create a website that displays all of Mary's work. Throughout her new found career Mary is hassled by a detective who is investigating the disappearance of Dr. Grant. Dr. Grant is revealed to be stored in a storage unit by Mary, suspended from a ceiling after she visits him to take pictures of his mutilated form. Mary narrowly escapes being discovered by a security guard, who stumbled upon Dr. Grant during hr photo shoot of him, and is forced to kill him. The film reaches a climax as Mary receives a call from a dying Beatrice who warns her that Ruby's husband, after learning of his wife's surgery, stabbed her and is now coming after Mary in vengeance. Just as the call ends Mary is attacked by Ruby's husband and a fight ensues, resulting in his death. Mary, having been fatally stabbed, stitches her wound and succumbs to internal bleeding. Her body is later discovered by the detective, who then goes on to discover her works, including her torture and mutilation of Dr. Grant.
RELATION TO EVOLUTION AND GOD COMPLEX
![Picture](/uploads/6/8/5/7/68579125/926182722.jpg?345)
American Mary specializes in the arrogance and complexity of humans, who through modern technology have taken upon themselves to mold themselves to their desired image. The materialism with mankind has grown to affect our image as many, seeking a more outlandish way of living and control over their own life seek to change their given image. Mary possesses a God complex in the sense that she operates on the impossible to make dreams and desires come true, changing one's physical appearance to give them control over themselves. American Mary displays the pinnacle of human evolution as beings take their own lives and complexity into consideration, disregarding any path set by a first creator in their narcissism.
